Anaerobic Treatment

Reva Enviro Systems provides advanced anaerobic treatment solutions for the effective treatment of low- to high-strength industrial wastewater. These systems are designed to achieve high organic removal efficiency while maintaining low operating and maintenance costs. In addition, the process enables energy recovery in the form of biogas, thereby enhancing overall sustainability and operational efficiency…

Upflow Anaerobic Sludge Blanket (UASB)

In a UASB reactor, wastewater is uniformly distributed at the reactor bottom and flows upward through a dense sludge blanket. Anaerobic microorganisms degrade organic matter and convert it into biogas. A specially engineered Gas–Liquid–Solid Separator (GLSS) effectively separates the treated effluent, biomass, and biogas, thereby ensuring stable reactor performance and preventing sludge washout.

Key Features & Benefits

  • Proven and widely accepted

  • Low energy requirement

  • Low maintenance and operation cost

  • Formation of granular sludge

  • No moving parts inside the digester

  • Significant biogas generation enabling energy recovery

Structured Media Attached Growth (SMAG®)

SMAG® is Reva Enviro’s proprietary fixed-film anaerobic technology, specifically developed for treating high-strength wastewater. It is known for robust performance, low operating cost, and minimal maintenance.

Process Description

The SMAG reactor consists of a mild steel tank packed with specially designed structured PVC media that provides a very high surface area for anaerobic bacteria to attach and grow. The immobilized biomass efficiently degrades organic pollutants, producing biogas. Continuous external recirculation ensures uniform contact between wastewater and biomass.

Key Features & Benefits

  • Handles very high organic loads (BOD up to 60,000 mg/L; COD up to 150,000 mg/L)

  • Fixed film, fixed bed, closed reactor system

  • No media clogging, replacement, or internal moving parts

  • Long media life of 15–20 years

  • High biogas generation enabling energy recovery and reduced operating cost

  • No moving part inside digester
  • Less footprint

Continuous Stirred Tank Reactor (CSTR)

CSTR technology is well suited for the treatment of medium- to high-strength wastewater. Owing to its vertical configuration, it is particularly advantageous in applications with space constraints. The system ensures complete and uniform mixing of wastewater and biomass through centrally and laterally mounted agitators, resulting in efficient anaerobic digestion, stable process performance and generation of methane-rich biogas.

Key Features and Benefits :

  • Suitable for medium & high organic loading conditions
  • Less footprint

  • Uniform mixing

  • Better digestion of solids

  • Significant biogas generation enabling energy recovery
